We’re looking at Martin Luther’s commentary on the life of Jacob, and especially considering Jacob’s sermon after the dream of the ladder, “This is the gate of heaven.”
Here’s a bit of Luther talking about the church as the new creation:
Therefore we should acknowledge and make much of the boundless glory of God by which He has revealed Himself to us in His church. For it is not the kind of house in which He creates as He created all things in the beginning out of nothing. No, it is a house in which He speaks with us, deals with us, feeds us, and cares for us when we are asleep and when we are awake.
