1/ Corruption… escaped (2 Peter 1:3-4)
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
Peter uses the word “corruption” to describe the sinful falling-apartedness of the world. It has to do with the moral and mortal condition of humanity after the Fall. (The Greek word shows up again in 2:12 and 2:19.) The divine nature is incorrupt, glorious, holy, and eternal, and we partake in that eternal holy glory by faith in the Lord’s promises.

3/ Ft Wayne Symposium live stream
Every year the Ft Wayne Seminary hosts a symposium. It’s a theological party/reunion. You should try to attend some time.
You can watch the lectures and services live here:
https://www.ctsfw.edu/ctsfw-events/event-symposia-2023/sym-live/
(Yesterday’s lectures are already posted. It looks like Pr Geoff Boyle is up first this morning. Find the schedule here.)
4/ Psalms of Lament
Speaking of Pr Boyle, last week I answered the question “Can Christians pray the imprecatory Psalms?” on the podcast. I really leaned into Pr Boyle’s article The Imprecatory Psalms as Means of Mercy and Wellness to answer.
(What-Not, The Podcast is where I’m putting a lot of my energy these days. If you’re not subscribed, jump in and give it a listen.)
5/ Packer’s Picks
Pastor Andrew Packer is helping with the theological production of the podcast and YouTube stuff. He’s a ferocious reader, and I’ve asked him for recommendations for the Wednesday What-Not. Here they are:
Articles:
Apocalyptic Politics: Christianity and the New World Order by Carl Trueman - Carl Trueman is a brilliant thinker and has written a few books describing how we got to our present cultural chaos. This article explains how much of the confusion of who and what we are comes from our use (abuse) of various technologies.
What I Learned from Rereading C. S. Lewis by Louis Markos - I am teaching on Mere Christianity right now for some Senior High School boys and reading Out of the Silent Planet as well. I thought this article was a good intro to C.S. Lewis. His teaching is still quite relevant as we seek to evangelize our communities.
“I Don’t Get Anything Out of the Service” by Pastor Beane - If you have ever said this (or thought it), or know anyone who has, then you will want to read this.
Podcasts:
On Lament An Interview with Pastor Daenzer - Pastor Daenzer does a beautiful job of explaining how and why we should be using psalms of lament as individuals and as churches.
6/ On the Wedding at Cana
I had the sermon all ready to go, too bad it was the wrong text.
7/ The Word and the Blood: that’s Church!
E/ Upcoming Events
No world-wide Bible class again today. Lord willing, we’ll be back at it next week.
Remember to go to your pastor's Bible Class this week and, read old theology books. (If you don't have a pastor or congregation, click here. If you don't have old theology books, click here.)
If you find this helpful, forward it to a friend. If this was forwarded to you, click here to sign-up for yourself.
Thank you, again, for your time and attention, and for your prayers. Please keep in touch.
Lord's Blessings, Pastor Wolfmueller

What did you mean by”Jesus was Jesus before His baptism and Jesus after His baptism was Jesus the Christ”?
Weird that you are reading Out of the Silent Planet as I just finished it a couple of days ago. I'm 67 years old and last read it in high school. Looking forward to Perelanda next!
