/ God's Salvation for All (Formula of Concord XI.28)
Here's a great summary of the Gospel from the Book of Concord:
For God “loved the world” and gave to it his only begotten Son (John 3:16). Christ has taken away the sin of the world (John 1:29); he has given his flesh “for the life of the world” (John 6:51); his blood is “the propitiation for the whole world’s” sin (1 John 1:7; 2:2). Christ declares, “Come unto me, all who are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). “God has included all men under disobedience so that he might have mercy on all” (Rom. 11:32). “The Lord is not wishing that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9). “He is simultaneously one Lord of all, rich toward all who call upon him” (Rom. 10:12). Righteousness “comes through faith in Christ to all and on all who believe” (Rom. 3:22). “This is the will of the Father, that all who believe on Christ should have eternal life” (John 6:40).
/ The Psalms of Lament
I’ve told three or four people this week: “You have been called to lament.” We are painting for the Lord, and He’s given you black ink. You are singing for the Lord in a minor key. The Psalms of Lament train us to serve the Lord with our sadness.
(And, instead of trying to break out of the prison cell, we sit and sing with contentment. That’s when the angel opens the door.)

/ Boss of Bosses
Jesus is not only the King of kings, and Judge of judges, He is also Lord of lords, which means He is the Boss of bosses.
Jesus is above all earthly authorities. Which is a warning for all in authority, and a comfort for all those under bad authority.
/ Martin Luther on Marriage
We didn’t even get to this profound prayer from Luther in today’s Worldwide Bible Class.
And we should exhort the youth to suffer and bear with equanimity whatever evils occur. They should accustom themselves to prayer and say: “Lord God, I am Thy creature, created a man by Thee and ordained to this kind of life in which I am now constantly entangled in many evils and difficulties. But grant that I may truly acknowledge that I am Thy creature and that Thou art my Father and Creator. And grant that I may await help and protection from Thee.”
The key point, and I didn’t get it the first time I read this prayer, is that we are God’s creatures, His creation. He has made us as we are, a man or woman, and appointed by God for the difficulties of this life.
