We’ll be studying Luther on Genesis 30:1-2 this morning in the Worldwide Bible Class.

Luther is on a role, and he’s teaching how to read the Bible. This will be fun!

But how would people lost in idleness and luxury, as the canons and the cardinals are, judge otherwise? These men spend their lives without toil and without any trials. Therefore we should read Holy Scripture in another and better way, and for this reason I repeat and emphasize so often that we should regard these insignificant and completely carnal matters not with the eyes of the flesh but with the eyes of the spirit. Then we shall see wonderful counsels of the Holy Spirit in descriptions of this kind more than in the greatest and most spiritual matters.
