1/ God likes forgiving our sins (Micah 7:18)
Who is a God like you,
pardoning iniquity
and passing over transgression
for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever,
because He delights in steadfast love.
2/ A Moment of Bach
Here’s a great little podcast that digs into some of the wonderful musical moments of Bach.
Here’s a nice conversation about one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
Here’s the music
3/ The Myth of God Rotting
Dr. Schulz and I continued our conversation yesterday, especially thinking about the mythology that underpins our modern culture of death on demand. We spend a lot of time working through Nietzsche’s Myth of the Mad Man. (“God is dead, and we have killed him.”)
Nietzche says (and notice the anti-Acts 2 themes here):
“Think it through! How shall we, the murderers of all murderers, comfort ourselves? What was holiest and most powerful of all that the world could ever know has bled to death under our knives. Who will wipe this blood off us? What baptism is there for us to wash ourselves clean? What holidays of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Are not the consequences of the deed too, too overwhelming for us? Must we not become gods ourselves simply to live up to it?”
Here’s the conversation.
